Four core IRU groups, comprising members of the university
executive management teams, provide leadership to the network's
strategic development and activities:

In addition, senior staff of the member universities have established a number of networking groups for the purposes of knowledge sharing, the conduct of collaborative projects and the joint pursuit of best practice in their areas of interest.
