IRU is delighted to be a silver sponsor of this year’s APAIE (Asia-Pacific Association for International Education) Conference and Exhibition.

IRU hosted three events at the conference:
the IRU International Partner Breakfast;
the IRU Conference Presentation on the International Student Barometer; and,
the IRU International Student Roundtable.
The IRU International Partner Breakfast
At the breakfast Professor Gary Martin, Chair of IRU’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor’s International Group, provided a welcome speech for the international guests about IRU, its history and current projects. Professor Martin also officially launched IRU’s "Our Network" brochure.

As part of the APAIE Conference Program, four of our International Directors: Ms Tracy McCabe - University of Newcastle; Ms Virginia Pattingale - Flinders University; Ms Liz Stinson - La Trobe University; and, Ms Ailsa Lamont - James Cook University, spoke about the network’s participation in and use of the International Student Barometer (ISB).
The IRU International Student Roundtable.
On Thursday 15 April, IRU hosted an International Student Roundtable. Sixteen students from IRU member Universities were invited by Professor Gary Martin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Faculty, Enterprise and International) Murdoch University and Chair of the IRU Deputy Vice-Chancellor International Group, to join the roundtable and share their insights into the Australian study experience. The students were sponsored by their universities to attend the Conference.
The Roundtable participants included 10 international and 6 domestic students from a variety of disciplines and levels of study, ranging from first year undergraduate to PhD level. Countries represented included: China; India; Indonesia; Nigeria; Malawi; Reunion; Saudi Arabia; Sweden; and, Solomon Islands.
