The 2nd Annual Social Inclusion in Education Conference

Last year the Australian Government announced that it would spend $1.1 billion on a range of initiatives to provide disadvantaged students with support to improve educational outcomes.
In addition, $108 million has been set aside to facilitate Partnership Activities between universities, schools and vocational education and training providers, to assist in attracting low SES students into higher education.
These ongoing reforms present an opportunity for further cross sector discussion at this year's summit

IRU ERA and the Creative Arts Workshop

This workshop will enable researchers and policy staff to share their experience of the ERA process to date, and their views on how it serves the recognition of the creative arts as research endeavour. The ERA definitions of research in relation to the creative arts, the creative arts research categories, and the approach to evaluation the quality of this research will be discussed.
The intended outcomes of the workshop are to:
- assist IRU member universities to refine internal processes based on shared ideas and experiences
- provide advice to government on the recognition and evaluation of research quality in the creative arts to inform future ERA exercises.
IRU Science and Maths Learning and Teaching Forum

The annual IRU Learning and Teaching Forum facilitates the sharing of practice and collaboration between member universities. This year’s Forum will focus on Science and Maths Teaching and Learning and will include:
- recognising successful teaching practices in science and mathematics.
- an exploration of course/topic collaboration, including outreach programs
- identifying key development areas, methods of support and strategies for improved assessment
- Funding support
