
Focus must be on the intent not the marker
1 December 2010PRODUCTIVITY indicators need to measure actual outcomes when it comes to allocating funding.
THERE is much ado across the sector as universities consider the implications of the performance funding methodology and indicators. We are all quick to point out the limitations of the indicators, the weakness in the methodologies and the flaws in each of the instruments, current and proposed.
Before losing ourselves in these problems, it is important to take a breath and think about what the fund is for and how best it can achieve those ends.
