The Australian Council of Learned Academies (ACOLA) is seeking input to guidelines they will be developing to help researchers meet their career needs and objectives. This work has been requested by the Department of Industry, Innovation, Science and Research (DIISR), in response to ongoing concerns around research career paths in Australia.
As a first step, researchers are invited to complete the following survey by 15 October https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ACOLA_Careers_Survey
Australian researchers face a number of difficulties in
developing a research
career. The Australian Council of Learned Academies (ACOLA) has
been
asked to develop best practice guidelines, which would improve
career
development for researchers in all fields.
The first step is to undertake a wide-ranging survey of
researchers in all
disciplines and at all stages in their careers. We invite
researchers to
complete a survey, which aims to identify both the problems and
possible
solutions. Background to the project is available at www.acola.org.au.
The survey itself is located at:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ACOLA_Careers_Survey
A number of survey respondents will be asked to attend a
two-hour workshop
in capital cities, where these ideas can be discussed in greater
detail.
"The closing date for individual responses is 15th October 2011"
