Ecosystems Tipping Points

Environmental sustainability is an IRU area of research strength.

A team of 26 eminent ecologists from across the network have identified the environments in our continent which are of greatest risk of catastrophic change - and what we can do to save them.

They warn that these environments are all at risk of reaching 'tipping points' where they may change rapidly and irreversibly into alien landscapes, often dominated by introduced or unfamiliar species.

They have identified Australia's 10 most endangered landscapes and their main threats

"Protecting Australia's most endangered landscapes".
